Jul 08 Blood Pressure Leakage Jul 08

Posted by Luke under Hospital | 0comment

They did a red blood cell tag and that didn’t show anything. This morning they did a scope down her throat and up her bum. They did find many places where blood was oozing out and into the stomach and into the intestine. There could be more leaking up where they connected the new liver. The plan as of now is to start her on some medicine for blood pressure with the hope that that will relieve some pressure in the veins and they won’t ooze. If that doesn’t work they would have to do surgery and put a shunt in to relieve the blood pressure.

She is on and off grumpy all day which is understandable since they stop her from eating all the time and have to keep poking her for blood samples. She does keep her fun quirks about her. She loves to hook and unhook all the cords to her when she goes potty. She makes things for Grandmas and cousins too.

I hope we can get some sort of fix with this blood pressure soon. It’s draining on both MaKayle and my nerves.

Jul 07 Hospital Update Jul 07

Many of you might have heard already but most of you probably haven’t heard that Kaisa has been back in the hospital. MaKayle brought her in Thursday evening. It is for the same reason we have been here before. She keeps having those bloody stools. They have done the same tests as always and haven’t really seen anything. Tomorrow she will get scoped. She was still pooping blood this afternoon so we are hoping that tomorrow isn’t to late and they will still be able to see something. We will post more as we know more. As as always thanks for all your prayers.

Jun 29 The mini blog is up Jun 29

The mini blog I mentioned in my last post it up and running. We have been posting to it for the last few days. Yesterday alone we had four small posts to it. We have had a lot of fun with these quick posts and I’m sure there will be many more posted to it in the near future. This blog will stay right where it is and we will continue to post here as well. Just not as often. The mini blog can be found here: family.lukeandmakayle.com – If you’d like the magic password let me know. Because it is password protected you won’t be able to put it in an RSS reader. Sorry. You’ll have to come back to the url to see what’s new.

Jun 27 A smaller blog Jun 27

We admit that we haven’t been the best at posting to our beloved blog as of late. Mak and I were very excited to use our phones to take pics of what we are up to and post those pictures right to our blog. We thought it would get us going more on this blog. Turns out though that the WordPress app for mobile devices is pretty limited. What we wanted was a quick and easy way post something small. I’ve known that doing just that is what a Tumblr blog does. I looked into and and showed Mak what we would need to do to post to it and we both really like it. In short we will have it up sometime this week. This blog will still be around and we might even post more lengthy updates to it. The blog that gets posted to often with small posts will be the new one. It will be password protected as well so if you want to follow it respond to this post and I’ll put you on the list to get the magic password. We are not sure what url the new one will reside at. It could be this url or a new one. Just wanted to give you all a heads up if you come back here next week and this is gone. It won’t really be gone, just moved. k thx bye

Jun 20 A great weekend Jun 20

We had really busy and exciting weekend. Grandma Roz showed up and the girls loved it. Saturday we took a trip to get some more trees for our yard and we got some good ones that were on sale and on clearance. Peanut loved digging holes to plant them.

On Sunday we went to see my grandpa and other family. I borrower a tennis racket from my uncle that I’m really excited to try.

The best part of the weekend was heading out to Walmart to pick our shiny new iPhones. I can’t tell you how cool these phones are. Mak was pretty amazed as well. Walmart is having a sale on the iPhones. They are being sold for fifty dollars off. If you can start or get on a family plan of four or five the plan is actually very affordable. Okay I’m going to go play more with this phone. I posted this post from my phone.

May 20 Look Alikes May 20

Sometimes we hear that our littlest tornado girl looks like dad. Other times she looks like mom. I personally have always thought she looks a lot like MaKayle. MaKayle had these two pictures up together and this solidified it for me. I threw them into Photoshop and did some quick work to make them easier to compare. Here they are at the same age. What do you think? Look alikes?

May 09 Peanut Update May 09

Thanks for all of you that responded and offered to baby sit. It means a lot. We did end up coming home Friday evening. Peanut stopped bleeding and they decided to stop doing any more tests since everything was coming back with no results. They have a few more they want to run but in order to do so they need her to be bleeding and to not have that bubble in her intestinal wall. That means we are free to go home. We will run back in if she starts to bleed again though. I guess there is another little one with a very similar problem and after a long wait they are finally finding out where the bleeding is coming from. Guess we just have to keep at it. Thanks for all your support everyone.

Yes I’m posting about Peanut in the hospital again. We had more bloody stool today. So we are back here at good ol Primaries. It is a great hospital so I guess if we have to be in the hospital a lot this is a good one to be in. They are testing for the internal bleeding in a few different ways. They all take time so we are in need of someone to watch our other little one while I get some hours in at work. If you are available and willing please let me know.

Apr 28 Hospital Update Apr 28

Just wanted to let everyone know that Peanut made it home and she is doing fine. She stopped bleeding internally. The bad thing is we still don’t know what has been causing this internal bleeding. We will be setting up a time to go back and do some more tests soon. Probably in the next two weeks. The only major thing about leaving the hospital was that Peanut had a princess balloon and as they went outside it blew away. It was pretty dramatic that she lost it. Mommy told her it went to Heaven. She told me as soon as she saw me and the event even made it into her prayers that night. It went something like – “Thank you that my princess balloon made it to Heaven safely.”

Apr 24 Easter & The Hospital Apr 24

So yes this blog has been neglected more than it should be. There are things we have been up to that should have made it on the blog. We will have to update you with those another time though. This post will be about Peanut and what is going on with her. This is an easy way to get everyone updated.

As you all know there was a holiday this weekend. That means that the Larsen Family will probably spend it in the hospital. Well that is just what we did. Saturday morning we did a fun Easter egg hunt with some cousins. After that was all over Peanut had some more blood in her stools. A lot of blood actually. This has happened before. Last time we took her in and the bleeding stopped and we went home without any real answers. This time they are being a little more aggressive about finding the source of the bleeding. They haven’t done any scoping to find out yet because there is a bubble in her large intestine. We have to get that to go away before they go in and scope her GI tract. To get rid of that pocket of air she has to go without food and water. Not very fun for her. The plan now is to wait for the pocket of air to go away and then flush her out so her GI tract is all clear. Then they will scope her GI tract as much as they can to find the source of the bleed. They have a few ideas of places it could be bleeding but they will look all over.

Apart from not being happy to be stuck in a bed with IVs in her arms she remains her usual spunky self through all this. She loves to push the Call Nurse button for no reason or just to tell them ‘I really hope you can find a big tractor for me to ride in the hall.’ Thanks for all the support from ward and family members. I’ll update more as I know more.
